All Gone … Most Definitely … Perhaps

MONTICELLO — I think I’ve lost everything on the terabyte that housed my digital life.
Sure, some of these things can be recovered like pictures posted to facebook, poetry and songs posted here on my blog, webpages loaded to different sites, stuff uploaded to MediaFire or put in Dropbox, stuff never removed from jump drives and even the old, old stuff on CDs, zip disks and floppies.
But then there’s the poetry, photos and other works I didn’t publish. And the webpages removed from the school server each semester they weren’t taught. Not to mention other documents that I won’t know I need until halfway into the semester.
I know better. I used to make CD backups after every semester. But then I got the terabyte and was able to get everything in one place. The only problem with having everything in one place is if that one place cannot be accessed.
I’m still hoping it can be accessed.
To help the cause, I’m completely updating/cleaning the PC that was working a little wonky prior to the problem. The problem primarily came from the terabyte falling off the coffee table on New Year’s. But it accessed it after that, so I’m not certain it’s the total problem; thus the PC cleaning. I’m also trying to get my computer-genius friends to take a look at it before I give up complete hope.
But until I can see them, I’m using printed syllabi from years’ past to help me recreate the webpages needed by next week.
